KABA-HAT (2012-2020)
KABA-HAT is an artist collective whose name plays on kabahat—meaning fault or misdemeanor—while also evoking kaba hat, the “coarse line” that interrupts smooth appearances. Formed as a small group of artists who gather to organize exhibitions and actions without galleries, curators, or intermediaries, KABA HAT adopts a deliberately unpolished and playful stance toward cultural production. Their practice often moves between satire and critique, exposing the absurdities of institutional power, urban transformation, and the art world’s self-seriousness. Rather than positioning themselves as representatives of a fixed aesthetic or ideology, they embrace the role of the “troublemaker” who questions frameworks, mocks hierarchies, and creates situations where meaning remains fluid, collective, and open to re-interpretation
