Emre Birişmen (born in Istanbul) is a visual artist and a filmmaker based in Berlin. He studied Visual Arts at Sabancı University in Istanbul, completing both his BA (2005–2009) and MA (2009–2012).

Working primarily with video, his practice explores themes of survival, migration, inequality, freedom, and justice. Influenced by personal experiences and political developments in Turkey and Germany, his works often reflect on the social and emotional effects of displacement. He creates narratives that respond to both personal and collective conditions. While his earlier works engaged with the restrictions of artistic expression in Turkey, his recent projects address emotional trauma, collective anxieties, and the changing political climate—particularly the rise of the far right and the dynamics of institutional systems in both countries.

He has been part of collectives such as KABA-HAT and Funke Kollektive, and continues to collaborate with initiatives including HiesTV and Fikirtepe. In 2021, he co-founded the interdisciplinary event series Chromatic Wednesdays and the short film festival HIVE: International Film Days in Berlin.

His films have been screened at international festivals including the Antalya International Film Festival, !f Istanbul Independent Film Festival, Ischia International Film Festival, Karlsruhe International Film Festival, and Mecal Pro Barcelona International Short and Animation Film Festival. His artistic work has been exhibited at institutions such as nGbK, Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien, Apartment Project, and Errant Sound.
